The International Centre for Water Security and Sustainable Management (i-WSSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea University College and Graduate School of International Studies on 10 September 2026 at EXCO in Daegu, during Korea International Water Week (KIWW 2026), the Republic of Korea’s largest international event in the water sector.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in research, education, human resource exchange, and international cooperation by combining the two institutions’ expertise in water and environmental issues, academic and training capacities, and domestic and international networks.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate in ▲joint research and academic events in the water and environmental sectors ▲human resource exchange related to research, internships, and educational programmes ▲exchange of research materials and publications ▲development and implementation of joint cooperation projects related to global water security and sustainable development.
As an initial area of follow-up cooperation, the two institutions plan to further develop an internship programme for students of Korea University College and Graduate School of International Studies at i-WSSM. Detailed arrangements and operational guidelines for the internship programme will be prepared, followed by the recruitment and selection of participants and the implementation of related activities.
The two institutions also plan to expand joint research and academic exchanges in areas such as water security, climate change, and international development cooperation, while continuing to identify joint international cooperation projects by leveraging their respective global networks.
Through this MoU, i-WSSM and Korea University College and Graduate School of International Studies aim to establish a practical cooperation framework that extends beyond research, education, and human exchange and leads to concrete international cooperation activities, while gradually expanding joint initiatives for global water-sector capacity development and international development cooperation.
